Trinity Lutheran Church: Proclaiming The Love Of Christ For 160 Years

The year 2003 marked the 160th anniversary of Trinity Lutheran Church, and we celebrated with the following events:

Rev. Philip Borleske (left, with Rev. Chuck Turbin), a son of the Trinity congregation, joined our worship services on March 2, and showed slides of Trinity's history in between services.

On June 7 and 8, Trinity was a stop on the Cedarburg Stone and Century House Tour, where members of Trinity provided information to guests about Trinity's history. An ice cream social at Trinity followed the worship service on June 8.

Rev. Paul Wittenberg, a son of Trinity, joined our worship service on June 29. Parishioners learned about the many opportunities Pastor Wittenberg has been blessed with throughout his ministry.

God has richly blessed Trinity for 160 years, and we were certainly blessed again on Aug. 17 with a wonderful outdoor service and picnic! The Jeff Winard Band was on hand to lead us in the polka service, and many stayed to enjoy the picnic that followed. We had a great turnout, and we were especially thrilled to see that so many guests chose to spend part of their Sunday by joining us in worship and celebration!

We kicked off Rally Day on Sept. 7 by welcoming back Pastor Robert Beckstrand and former Trinity organist Dorothy Beckstrand. Pastor Beckstrand, who served as pastor of Trinity from 1984 to 1990, preached at both services that morning and was the guest in the adult class between services. A wonderful light luncheon buffet took place in Fellowship Hall following the 10:30am service.

On Oct. 26, Rev. Paul Stumme-Diers, bishop of the Greater Milwaukee Synod of the ELCA, joined us for this final event of our 160th anniversary celebration. A family-style dinner followed the 10:30am service, providing a wonderful opportunity for all members -- past, present and future -- to share old memories and make some new ones!
